Man of the Road
by: SAL
Fourth time Driver of the Year and five times first place, Jimmie Johnson is a man of many roads. He started with 50cc motorcycles at the age of five years old. Foreseeing the roads will be a part of his life; he moved from motorcycles to four wheels vehicles and got picked by Nelson & Nelson Racing. Participating in many races like the SODA and Mickey Thompson Entertaining Group; Jimmie got a record of 25 winnings and six championships and other honors of notice.
By 1998, Jimmie joins the American Speed Association circuit with only six stock car races in his life. Also, he began to race in NASCAR nation wide series, participating in three events. He won twice and reached third place in the ASA. In 2000 he became a full time NASCAR driver for Herzog Motorsports. That same year, Johnson crashed head on into a Styrofoam insulation and guardrail. He emerged from the car uninjured. In 2001 he won his first NASCAR Nationwide series at the Hills Brothers Coffee 300 81st series event.
Through these 10 years, Jimmie has won and lost many races. In 2006 he won the Nextel Cup Series Championship. He reached victories at Daytona 500, UAW Daimler, Chrysler 400, Aaron's 499, Allstate 400 and the Subway 500. He also won the Nextel All Star Challenge.
Something of notice, in February 2006 Jimmie also created the Jimmie Johnson Foundation. The foundation dedicates to assist children, families and communities in need around all the USA. The idea is to help everyone, mostly the children; something really noble if you ask me.
The coming years were good; in the 2008 Jimmie has 7 wins and the Sprint Cup Series Championship. In 2009 again he won 7 races and got four consecutive championships making history in the annals of NASCAR.
Another of his achievements to count is the winning streak of five Sprint Cup championships claimed in 2010. Jimmie also won for the first time in a dirt oval during the Tony Stewart charity race.
His career is long and full of experience; his efforts are of notice and isn't strange that he gets honored with the title of Driver of the Year once more; with all his victories it's clear that he deserve it.
