2010 is about to end, and for Simona de Silvestro the old year has brought more challenges than she can foresaw at that moment, things that happened on the track and economically; loses in gear and equipments, even an accident. Besides the bad moments, she did a great performance in a short time together with a capable team and adding a name to remember in the Indy tracks. This Swiss beauty has hardened her skills in the tracks against the toughest drivers.
Simona raced during 2008 and 2009 in the Atlantic Championship winning the Long Beach Grand Prix in 2008 and writing history as the second woman to have won those series. During 2009 she was point's leader for almost the whole season and won 4 times. Simona has participated in a lot of races including IRL IndyCar Series test, competing full time for HVM Racing and Team Stargate Worlds.
A lot of events occurred in 2010. She was honored with the Rookie of the Year title during the 2010 Indianapolis 500 after advance 8 positions and reaching the 14th position. Also this same year; this woman of steel has been through fire once, when due to the flames after a crash at the walls of Texas Motorspeedway she burned her right hand. Even with the menacing flames and the danger rising at every second, she waited for a rescue crew to assist her. HVM Racing has confirmed who de Silvestro will be racing again with the team in 2011 season; and now that Simona has passed those hard tests, she looks forward to come back at the tracks.
Also, besides winning the honors of the Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year, Simona is considered the recipient of the 2010 Tony Renna Rising Star Award. Indeed, her career promises to be a rising star, and a shinning one.
